Class Title: Night Operations Manager
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, the Night Operations Manager performs managerial duties for the Custodial Division. The Operations Manager schedules, plans, coordinates and reviews the custodial activities of the District and supervises, inspects and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel. Additionally, the Night Operations Manager has the responsibility for the implementation of all required training of District personnel mandated by both O.S.H.A. and the District, coordination of the District’s Integrated Pest Management program, and other work as required. The shift consists of afternoon and evening hours supporting the health and safety of the employees as well as all District Facilities.
Examples of Duties
Confers with a variety of District personnel regarding the health, safety and security of all District structures, related physical facilities and all custodial equipment
Assumes the responsibility for the assignment of personnel and the preparation of work schedules
Provides day to day supervision and decisions to ensure that employees comply with all safety regulations
Inspects custodial routes to ensure all standards are being followed
Coordinates the custodial activity priorities and work assignments
Inspects work in progress and upon completion
Coordinates assignments of custodial staff as it relates to facilities use, either internal or outside groups
Evaluates the performance of assigned personnel
Rotates with other personnel the after-hours on-call responsibilities
Ascertain what is needed to control all pest problems in all buildings and grounds
Order and maintain proper supplies for distribution to sites
Order and maintain proper inventory of parts and materials needed for all custodial equipment
Set up all monthly custodial meetings with lead custodians and then with all custodial staff
Coordinate garbage and recycle pick-ups when school is in session and adjust as needed during summer months
Perform other duties as assigned
Employment Standards
Training and Experience
Any combination of training and experience which would indicate possession of the knowledge, skills and ability listed herein. For example, completion of the 12th grade or equivalent; not less than 3 years of experience performing duties listed herein, preferably including one year in a supervisory capacity. (Additional full-time paid operations maintenance experience may be substituted for up to two years of the required education on a year-for-year basis with high school diploma or GED).
Knowledge
Familiarity with the methods, materials and equipment utilized in operations and security functions; with the principals of organization and supervision, standard practices of the custodial operations industry, and requirements of maintaining school facilities in a safe, well-maintained and orderly condition; and with the tools and equipment used in day to day custodial operations.
Abilities
The ability to perform custodial operations as it relates to estimating materials and supplies needed; schedule and coordinate the work with others; supervise and train personnel; maintain a variety of moderately complex records; prepare and present thorough and concise reports; understand and carry out oral and written directions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; have the computer skills necessary to perform the tasks needed (for example, Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets, ClarisWorks and Apple computer programs).
License Requirements
A valid Class 3 California driver’s license is required; any needed training or classes as required by job responsibilities.
