Under the direction of the site Principal and in collaboration with RCSD District Staff, art teachers will provide instruction for students in grades TK-8 and support each school site in the development and implementation of District Art initiatives and curriculum.
Purpose:
To expand access and provide equity of opportunity for all RCSD students to have Art as well as electives and integrated opportunities that enhance college and career readiness through hands-on experiences and education.
Essential Job Functions:
Strong art background especially in drawing and painting. Content areas of art history including aesthetics and appreciation, three-dimensional art including sculpture and ceramics, and photography/computer generated imagery.
Instruct students in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other elements of the course of study specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the District.
Develop lesson plans, instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student. Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
Maintain professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the District, school and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
Perform basic attendance accounting and business services as required.
Credential:
Appropriate Valid California Credential/Permit based on assignment (Single Subject Art, Introductory Art, or Subject Matter Authorization Art) English Learner Authorization, CLAD, BCLAD or equivalent.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree, including all courses needed to meet credential requirements.

Our 8th graders feed into the neighboring Sequoia Union High School District (SUHSD).
