CLASSROOM TEACHER

OVERVIEW:
Provide an educational program for pupils in grades 4-5 or a combination thereof.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide educational program utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning activities.
Instruct pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
Provide planned learning experiences in order to motivate pupils and best utilize the available time for instruction; develops instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Evaluate pupils’ academic and social growth, determine and keep appropriate records, prepare progress reports.
Inform each child of his/her current status, helping him/her to recognize his/her successes and to understand the reasons for and the possible solutions to his/her school-related difficulties.
Communicate with parents on the individual student’s progress.
Recognize the shared responsibility for each child’s success and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
Provide with assistance from pupils, a functional and attractive environment for learning.
Continue professional growth through participation in in-service education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected.
Select and requisition books and maintain required inventory records.
Insure a comfortable room environment through control of heating, lighting, and ventilation to the extent possible.
Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
Administer group standardized tests in accordance with district testing program.
May participate in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school of assignment and/or on a district level during the assigned working day.
May share in school activities and participate in faculty committees.
May plan for and coordinate the instructional assistants and parent volunteers.
May participate with other professional staff members in the social hygiene and outdoor education programs at grade five.
Perform basic attendance accounting and business services as required.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
Bachelor's degree
Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential

Our 8th graders feed into the neighboring Sequoia Union High School District (SUHSD).
