SUBSTITUTE TESTING SPECIALIST

Basic Function:
Under the direction of the Director of English Learner Services and the Director of Assessment administer, score and process the English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC).
Representative Duties:
Work on testing teams with other ELPAC testers and Testing Specialists to administer the ELPAC Summative Assessment to English learners (ELs) and the ELPAC Initial to potential ELs remotely and/or at school sites.
Administer the ELPAC in accordance with State requirements outlined in the current ELPAC Administration Trainer’s Kit.
Comply with the testing quotas set by the English Learner Services Department.
Score tests for initial students and complete student identification information as necessary.
Keep testing materials organized and secure.
Perform related duties as assigned, including satisfactory completion of the ELPAC 2020-2021 test administration training.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Oral and written proficiency in English including proper usage, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Ability to:
Learn and/or adjust to the current functions and basic operations of the in person and remote ELPAC administration process.
Maintain confidentiality about student information and test content.
Relate to students ranging from Kindergarten through 8th grade, so as to encourage their best efforts in responding to test questions.
Perform responsible clerical duties.
Schedule workload to meet deadlines.
Operate computer equipment.
Understand and interpret written and oral directions.
Establish and maintain effective work relationships with the testing team and other staff members.
Establish and maintain effective, cordial and supportive communication with students and families.
Education and Experience:
Graduation from high school or equivalent
Two years of clerical experience or classroom instructional support.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Licenses and Requirements:
Valid California driver's license, evidence of appropriate automobile insurance based on DMV regulations and insurable by the District liability insurance carrier.
